ZEERUST CBD TAXI RANK AND DINOKANA GETS A CLEAN UP TO REDUCE CRIME HOTSPOTS

The Zeerust CBD taxi rank and Dinokana village (Jerusalema) will on Monday get a clean up as the MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Dr Motlhabane will lead his departmental staff members and other 300 volunteers on a debushing letsema initiative. The volunteers consist of CPF members, patrollers, enough is enough group members, local councillors and other community members

The debushing letsema initiative is a project whereby communities are encouraged to volunteer their services through Crime Prevention through Environmental design (CPTED).

CPTED is one of the pillars focusing on designing systems to reduce crime and increase the detection and identification of criminals. This is performed through campaigns that targets crime hotspots by clearing bushes and erecting crime information boards.

The area for the de-bushing letsema is determined by the crime trends and patterns decided upon by stakeholders during consultative meetings to plan for the implementation of activities.

Members of the media are therefore invited to cover this important initiative which is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 10 December 2018

Venue: Zeerust CBD and Dinokana village Jerusalema section

Time: 08:00
